I got this idea from a picture on an old bookmark I have had for years,
I have always liked the beetle and decided it was time to try and reproduce it.

Materials Needed

PSP 8
My Selections - this needs to be unzipped and saved in your selections folder - Here
Gold glitter fill it needs to be in your patterns folder - Here
Old paper for the background it needs to be in your patterns folder - Here

My colours Light Blue #4AA6DA
                Dark Blue #0B0E97

Open New Image 400 x 400 - it must be this size for the selections to fit.
Selections - Select Load from from Disk LLBeetle 1
Flood fill with dark blue
Select None
Selections - Select Load from Disk LLBeetle 2
Flood Fill with Dark Blue
Apply Default Inner bevel 1 to the Antenna only
S A V E

Add New raster layer
Selections - Select Load from Disc LLBeetle 3
Flood fill with goldfill
Selections - Modify Contract x 3
Flood fill with Light Blue
Select None
S A V E

Add New raster layer
Selections - Select Load from Disc LLBeetle 4
Flood Fill with Gold fill
Selections - Modify Contract x 3
Flood fill with Dark blue
Select None

Do the same for LLBeetle 5 use Dark blue to fill
Do the same for LLBeetle 6 use light blue to fill
Do the same for LLBeetle 7 use light blue to fill
Do the same for LLBeetle 8 use Dark blue to fill
Do the same for LLBeetle 9 use Dark blue to fill
S A V E

Add New raster layer
Do the same for LLBeetle 10 use Dark blue to fill
Do the same for LLBeetle 11 use Dark blue to fill
Do the same for LLBeetle 12 use Dark blue to fill
Do the same for LLBeetle 13 use Dark blue to fill
Select None
S A V E

Add New Raster Layer - This is your highlight layer
Load Selections from Disk - LLBeetle 14 No gold here just use the Light blue to fill
You can lower the opacity in the layers palette on this highlight layer slightly if you wish
or go to adjust blur gausian blur radius 2

Now your beetle is done :)
Merge layers

You can copy your image now and paste as a new image and
save it as a .gif or a tube for future use.

On your original merged image
Drop Shadow
These are the settings I used
Vertical and Horizontal 3
Opacity 45
Blur 6
Colour Black #000000
S A V E

Add New raster layer and move to bottom
Flood fill this bottom layer with your paper fill

Add New raster layer
make sure it is between your top layer of the beetle
and your bottom paper layer
Click on that layer in your layer palette to make it active
and now you can add the frame.

Frame
Select All
Modify - Contract x 15 - Selections Invert
Flood fill with your gold fill - Keep selected
Modify - Contract x 2 - Flood Fill with your light blue - Keep Selected
Modify - Contract x 3 - Flood Fill with your Dark blue
Selections Select None
Add drop Shadow
Vertical and Horizontal 3
Opacity 45
Blur 6
Colour Black #000000
(repeat the shadow for the frame using Vertical and Horizontal -3)
S A V E

Add your Logo or watermark if you wish and you are done
Merge layers and save
